Kuwaiti Defense Min., British military chief eye closer ties

KUWAIT, March 23 (KUNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah held talks on Thursday with visiting Chief of the British Defense Staff Sir Stuart Peach, as discussions centered on issues of mutual concern.
During the meeting, which was attended by the British Ambassador to Kuwait Matthew Lodge, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled underscored the breadth of Kuwait's ties with Britain, a statement by the Ministry of Defense noted.
Elsewhere, the Minister of Defense also met with Chief of the General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Viktor Muzhenko and his accompanying delegation, where talks focused on strategies to ameliorate military ties between both nations.
Both meetings were attended by the Kuwaiti Army's Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Al-Khoder, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Army Lieutenant General Abdullah Al-Sabah and other military officials. (end) hmd.nam
