Tillerson meets Saudi, Tunisian FMs

WASHINGTON, March 13 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had his first meetings with Saudi and Tunisian foreign ministers separately here on Monday.
Tillerson and Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir discussed "a number of critical bilateral, multilateral, rather regional issues, including, of course, the ongoing conflict in Yemen as well as broader counterterrorism efforts," said Mark Toner, the acting spokesperson of the State Department,.
Tillerson expressed his desire for "strengthening economic and commercial ties, as well as US support for Saudi Arabia's vision 2030," also known as the kingdom's economic reform plan, Toner told reporters.
In a separate meeting with Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui, Tillerson "noted the important security partnership between the United States and Tunisia and highlighted Tunisia's progress on security democratic reforms," Toner said.
The two sides also discussed "the importance of finding a resolution to the conflict in Libya," which has not had a functioning, representative government since 2012, he added. (end) ys.gb
