'Moscow platform' of Syrian opposition urges holding trilateral meeting

GENEVA, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- The Moscow group of the Syrian opposition Sunday called for holding a trilateral meeting with the supreme negotiation body and the Syrian Cairo opposition platform.
Speaking at a news conference at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Hamza Monzer, head of the Moscow group, said the call aims to reach a consensus regarding the formation of one delegation of the opposition.
The delegation should not exclude any segments of the Syrian opposition, he added, indicating that the move also seeks to begin serious and direct talks between the opposition and the regime.
Any delay in discussions and negotiations, the price would be very expensive due to probable bloodshed, he said.
Negotiations are deep humanitarian efforts which must reach solutions, he stressed.
He revealed that the 'Moscow platform' has already launched several initiatives in this regard, but results are insufficient.
The meeting with UN Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura discussed terrorist groups and the role of international community in pressing international and regional forces to stop supporting terrorism.
They also dealt with negotiations and how to form one opposition delegation. (pickup previous) ta.hm
