AMMAN, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- A group of Kuwaiti volunteers have initiated an extensive training course to produce specialists who will offer psychotherapy to Syrian refugees residing in Jordan.
Nasser Al-Bassam, who heads the team of volunteers affiliated with Kuwait's International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO), told KUNA on Sunday that around 30 trainees have joined the program.
Moreover, he pointed out that a timeframe of five months has been set for the course, where an internationally accredited certificate will be conferred on the trainees upon completion of the course.
He also noted that the visit comes in a particularly apropos time, coinciding with the gaieties of Kuwait's national celebrations.
On the team that comprises 10 Kuwaiti volunteers, Al-Bassam pointed out that they have doled out, in the last three days, aid packages consisting of food, clothes and sums of money to Syrian refugee families.
Earlier this month, truckloads of Kuwaiti relief aid weighing 20 tons and earmarked for Syrian refugees, poured into the Hashemite Kingdom. (end) mjb.nam
