GENEVA, Feb 22 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a written letter to Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) William Lacy Swing, said a Kuwaiti diplomat Wednesday.
Speaking to KUNA, Kuwait Permanent delegate to the UN and international organizations headquarters in Geneva, Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim said that the letter focused on Kuwait's efforts in the humanitarian domain.
After handing the letter, Al-Ghunaim said that he had a meeting with Swing, discussing results of the IOM Director's recent visit to Kuwait.
"I have conveyed greetings from Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Swing," Al-Ghunaim who affirmed that the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry was keen on developing ties with the IOM.
On his part, Swing thanked the Kuwaiti leadership and people for their hospitality during the visit, affirming that he was honored to have met with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad and other senior Kuwaiti officials.
He also lauded Kuwait's involvement in the Syria donors' conference, which is scheduled soon in Brussels.
Documenting Kuwaiti humanitarian work, whether in film or any other medium, is important to showcase Kuwait's global efforts, said the IOM Director who hoped that the organization and the Gulf country would continue to coordinate their efforts in the future. (end) ta.gta
