US soldier dies in Iraq, coalition launches 26 air strikes

WASHINGTON, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- A 21-year-old US soldier has died in Iraq from a "non-combat related incident," the Pentagon announced Tuesday.
Pfc. Brian. P. Odiorne of Massachusetts died one day earlier in Al Anbar Province, the statement said. The incident is under investigation.
Meanwhile, the US-led coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS) launched 26 air strikes "consisting of 89 engagements" in Syria and Iraq on Monday, the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in its daily report.
In Syria, 17 strikes hit IS targets near Al-Bab, Ar Raqqah, Dayr Az Zawr, and Palmyra, the report showed.
In Iraq, nine strikes hit IS targets near Bayji, Kisik, Mosul, and Tal Afar, the report said. (end) ys.mt
