Qatari Amir inaugurates Laffan Refinery II project

DOHA, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani inaugurated Monday Laffan Refinery II project which cost nearly three billion Qatari riyals (USD 823 million).
The successful operation of the Laffan Refinery II has doubled Qatar's energy to refine condensates, bringing its total capacity to 292,000 bpd, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Petroleum and Board Chairman of Qatargas Engineer Saad Sherida Al Kaabi said at the inaugural speech.
He pointed out that the new project would make Ras Laffan one of the largest condensate refining sites in the world as it has higher levels of environmental conservation.
Al Kaabi stressed that the project supports the energy and industry sectors and will create new economic opportunities by enhancing the strength of exports and meeting long-term needs of global markets.
Laffan Refinery II produces low Sulfur Euro-V specifications products such as Naphtha, Jet-A1, Ultra low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD), Propane and Butane for local and international markets. (end) nnd.ibi
