KUWAIT, Feb 5 (KUNA) -- Tanzanian Foreign Minister Augustine Mahiga has hailed ties between his country and the State of Kuwait calling for cementing these relations in various spheres.
Mahiga expressed satisfaction at the bilateral relations' level during a reception of Kuwaiti Ambassador to Tanzania, Jassem Al-Najem, in the African nation. During the session, Ambassador Al-Najem handed minister Mahiga a written message from First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The Kuwaiti embassy in Tanzania, in a statement to KUNA, quoted minister Mahiga as hailing continuing contacts with Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, exchanging views on a host of political issues on the African and international arenas.
A KFAED delegation of technical experts visited Tanzania, in December, tentatively approving funding a highway in West Tanzania and renovating the main hospital in Zanzibar.
Minister Mahiga underscored necessity of boosting mutual commercial exchanges between the two friendly countries to a level parallel to that of the distinctive bilateral political ties and encouraging Kuwaiti public and private investments in his country.
Moreover, he underlined the need to solicit Kuwaiti oil and gas expertise to develop recently-discovered fields in a region bordering Mozambique, hoping that local personnel undergo training by Kuwaiti oil companies. (end) kns.rk
