BEIRUT, Jan 24 (KUNA) -- Lebanese President Michel Aoun Tuesday expressed gratitude for relentless support extended by Kuwait to the Lebanese people, commending positions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Representative of His Highness the Amir, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah met with Aoun earlier and extended an invitation from His Highness the Amir to visit Kuwait.
Aoun looks forward for boosting relations with Kuwait, and appreciated the State of Kuwait and government funds for their support to development projects in Lebanon, a statement by the presidency said.
Aoun said he accepted the invitation of His Highness the Amir.
Sheikh Mohammad met with parliament speaker Nabih Berri and informed him of His Highness the Amir's invitation to Aoun.
In a statement after the meeting with Berri, Sheikh Mohammad said he and the speaker exchanged views over a host of issues of mutual interest.
"We in Kuwait will always stand by Lebanon in all important and humanitarian issues, as well as just causes ...," he said. (pickup previous) mah.bs
