Cernan, last astronaut to walk on moon, dies at 82

WASHINGTON, Jan. 16 (KUNA) -- Eugene Cernan, the last astronaut to walk on the surface of the moon, has died, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced on Monday.
Cernan, 82, served as as spacecraft commander of Apollo 17, the last scheduled manned mission to the moon for the US. The mission launched and returned in December 1972. (end) rm.ibi
