Kuwait, Egypt eye closer judicial ties

CAIRO, Jan 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Faleh Al-Azab discussed with Chairman of the Egyptian Supreme Judicial Council Mustafa Jamal-el-Din Shafiq on Wednesday strategies for enhanced judicial ties.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Azab cited Egyptian touches in the Kuwaiti constitution, noting that Kuwait is in need of judicial expertise in order to bring "legislation up to date." Moreover, the Kuwaiti Minister of Justice added that Egypt's proximity to Kuwait underscores his visit to the venerable headquarters of the Egyptian Supreme Judicial Council.
On the visit, he said that it aims to bolster judicial cooperation between both nations, as he hailed Egypt's judicial system as amongst the most preeminent in the world.
Meanwhile, Egypt's chief Judge spoke of Egyptians' fondness of Kuwait, as he cherished an agreement for cooperation signed by both countries' Ministers of Justice.
In a statement to KUNA, Shafiq said that he was content with discussions held with the Kuwaiti minister, adding that both nations share aligning views.
On a visit to Egypt, Al-Azab signed on Tuesday an agreement for legal and judicial cooperation with his Egyptian counterpart Hossam Abdel-Rahim, a measure intended to cement solid bilateral ties. (end) aff.nam
