Attack on MP house kills 5 in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- At least five people were killed and several others were injuried as gunmen attacked house of an Afghan Member Parliament (MP) in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul on Wednesday night.
According to initial reports, three gunmen stormed Mir Wali's (MP of southern Helmand province) house in Khoshal Khan locality of Kabul killing at least five people including two children. Mir Wali was reportedly at home when the gunmen entered the house but managed to escape safely. At least one of the attackers detonated explosives inside the MP's house.
Some media reports suggest that attackers also took some people hostage. Security forces have cordoned off the area and a clearance operation is underway.
No group has so far claimed responsibility of the attack but Taliban rebels have targeted government officials and installations several times in past. (end) sbk.ibi
