India, Qatar sign five cooperative pacts

NEW DELHI, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- India and Qatar on Saturday signed five agreements to enhance bilateral relations in economic, political and security areas.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement following a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his visiting Qatari counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani that the agreements were signed in the presence of both the prime ministers.
The statement further said that Indian Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh and Minister of Municipality and Environment in the State of Qatar Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi represented their countries in signing an agreement that allows holders of diplomatic, special and official passports of the two countries to visa-free travel between the two countries.
A Protocol on Technical Cooperation in cyber space and combating cyber crime was signed by Rajnath Singh and Qatar's Minister of Transport and Communications Jassem bin Saif Al-Sulaiti.
Minister of State in the Indian External Affairs Ministry M J Akbar and Qatari Minister of Finance Ali Sharif Al-Emadi represented their respective countries in inking a Letter of Intent between the two governments regarding negotiations on an agreement on grant of e-Visa for businessmen and tourists of the two countries.
An MoU between Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy of Qatar and Confederation of Indian Industry was also signed in order to give a framework for project experts of Indian companies in Qatar especially through participation in infrastructure projects in Qatar.
Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) and Indian Ports Global Private Limited also signed an MoU to encourage greater collaboration and exchange in the field of national ports management of both the countries.
On his arrival Friday night, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani met Indian business leaders and underlined the need of further strengthening economic and investment ties between the two countries in order to cement centuries old historic ties between the two friendly nations.
