Eight PKK members killed E. Turkey - army

ISTANBUL, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- At least eight members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have been killed in the eastern Turkish city of Tunceli during security operations, said Turkey's General Staff on Saturday.
Turkish forces' units have launched operations in an area within the city after drones and reconnaissance aircrafts monitored the movement of PKK elements on November 24, the general staff added in a statement.
The eight members were killed between November 24 and 28, 14 sites were destroyed, and weapons and ammunition were seized, it noted.
In retaliation for attacks on civilians and security personnel, the Turkish police and army have been combating the PKK and pursuing its members in southern and southeastern Turkey, as well as northern Iraq. (end) ta.hm
