Kuwait distributes 1,000 food baskets to IDPs in W. Irbil

IRBIL, Nov 21 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait handed out on Monday 1,000 food baskets to displaced Iraqis living in Al-Kwyr area, west of Irbil.
Herch Hussein, head of Al-Kwyr area in western Irbil, told KUNA that the humanitarian aid was handed out to internally displaced persons in Mosul.
He said that 250,000 people are in dire need of humanitarian aid, expressing his gratitude to Kuwait for this humanitarian initiative and urging all countries to help the displaced.
Tribal leader Taha Mohammad voiced in a similar statement to KUNA his appreciation to Kuwait for supporting displaced Iraqis, describing this move as a "historical".
He called on the region's countries and international organizations to buttress the displaced numbering 1.5 million in the region.
Kuwait has provided relief aid to the displaced Iraqis in Kurdistan region and Mosul. (end) sbr.hm
