Kuwait participated effectively in UNTOC Conf. in Vienna - Official

VIENNA, Oct 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait took part effectively in the concluding sessions, and formulating the final recommendations of the Conference of Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC), an official told KUNA on Monday.
The delegation of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Justice attended all the meetings and workshops of the conference, Kuwaiti Public Attorney Advisor Bader Al-Musad said.
The delegation submitted documents on Kuwait's efforts in fighting crime, Al-Musad said.
In addition, Kuwait expressed full support to the international cooperation to fight organized crime, he said.
Al-Musad noted that participants in the conference that wrapped up meeting on Friday, had discussed commitment to the agreement's terms and laws for preventing human trafficking, smuggling of immigrants and controlling weapons and ammunition.
Kuwait has recently signed several agreements regarding regional legal cooperation in the matter, including a GCC agreement on the extradition of criminals and the Arab agreement on fighting organized crime, the advisor said.
Meanwhile, Al-Musad said that Kuwait is currently working on a draft law on international legal and judicial cooperation.
The conference, held every two years, was attended by about 800 people. The Kuwaiti delegation was headed by the country's ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Sadiq Marafi.(end) amq.ag
