Right-wing allegations of US voter fraud never withstand scrutiny - White House

WASHINGTON, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- Responding to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's ongoing campaign statements that the Nov. 8 election is "rigged," White House deputy spokesman Eric Schultz on Thursday said any serious investigation or examination into right-wing allegations of US voter fraud never withstands scrutiny.
"There is not a lot of evidence of widespread voter fraud that some on the right continue to allege," Schultz said during a briefing aboard Air Force One.
During the final debate with Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton on Wednesday night, Trump refused to say whether he would accept the result of the presidential election if he loses to Clinton.
Responding to that on Thursday, Schultz noted that President Barack Obama has said that "if this country chooses to elect Mr. Trump, he (Obama) will pursue a peaceful transfer of power. He will escort him to the Capitol. That will be some car ride." "But that is in the best interest of our nation, and that is consistent with hundreds of years of tradition," Schultz added. (end) rm.mb
