DOHA, Oct 19 (KUNA) -- GCC member states share joint vision to unify arbitration regulations for inter-GCC commercial and administrative disputes, said GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre (GCCCAC) board member Bader Saud Al-Bader on Wednesday.
"The GCC states are working on upgrading arbitration centers in each of the Council countries and expanding this experience, regionally and internationally," Al-Bader, who is also member of Kuwait Commercial Arbitration Centre, said in remarks to KUNA on sidelines of the Second International Conference Arbitration Conference.
Establishing the arbitration Center came as a result of continuous efforts exerted by the GCC states' leaders out of their keenness on boosting ties among the member countries in the economic, commercial and urban domains, with aim of averting disputes, namely among governments, institutions and peoples, Al-Bader added.
He stressed on importance of establishing connections among the GCC and international arbitration centers to acquire further experience.
Such centers should be publicized as legal bodies responsible for solving problems in the field, Al-Bader said. Moreover, arbitration should be included in academic teaching curricula in the GCC states, besides establishing specialized institutions, he proposed.
The conference which kicked off yesterday (Tuesday) involved 650 participants. It is patronized by Qatari Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Khalifa.
This opening of this conference coincided with the 10th anniversary of establishing Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration, which was founded to spread the arbitration culture as a vital and easy tool to solve disputes. (end) nnd.lb
