Explosion in southeast Turkey kills six soldiers

ANKARA, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Six Turkish soldiers were killed and seven others were injured in a booby-trapped car explosion in Hakkari city southeast of the country, said a military source Sunday.
According to Dogan News Agency, the Turkish authorities accused the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) of masterminding the attack which occurred in Semdinli town.
The PKK, listed as a terror organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU, resumed its attacks against Turkish targets in July of 2015 after a three-year ceasefire.
The current wave of attacks resulted in the death of around 700 Turkish military and security personnel in addition to the killing of over 6,000 PKK combatants. (end) rs.gta
