BRUSSELS, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- A delegation of Kuwaiti lawyers and legal personnel from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce has visited headquarters of the Permanent International Criminal Court in The Hague, getting acquainted with latest applied technologies and mechanisms in international criminal judicial tasks.
Tareq Al-Shmaimri, counsellor at the State of Kuwait's Embassy and head of the financial panel of the international tribunal, told KUNA on Saturday that the delegation held constructive discussions with Ronny Abraham, the chief judge of the International Court of Justice, and a number of judges, focusing on mutual cooperation and prospects of Kuwait's employment of the judges' expertise.
The 20-member delegation of Kuwaiti attorneys and legal figures, during the week-long visit which concluded on Friday, attended a trial session and met the dean of Leiden Law School of Leiden University.
They had also visited main offices of the International Court of Arbitration and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, also taking a close look at work mechanisms and procedures.
Al-Shmaimri expressed hope the mission would pave way for closer cooperation between these international tribunals and establishments and the State of Kuwait at the legal and judicial levels. (end) nk.rk
