Kuwait: Adherence to GCC initiative wayout to solve Yemeni crisis

GENEVA, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwait stressed Thursday before the United Nations Human Rights Council the need for coming up with any possible efforts to support Yemen and take it out of its ordeal through the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms, outputs of the comprehensive national dialogue conference and relevant Security Council resolutions.
آ آ آ This came in a speech by the Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghuneim in the interactive dialogue with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights office on Human Rights in Yemen.
آ آ آ The ambassador asserted the importance of focusing on the UN Security Council resolution 2216 at a time when the State of Kuwait also supports efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen through its hosting of warring parties for over three months and its provision of all needed resources to enable them to reach a political agreement stemming from Kuwait's humanitarian duty towards the Yemeni people.
He called in this context on the international community to intensify its humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people, with an emphasis on the importance of providing technical and substantive support by the Human Rights Council to the legitimate institutions of Yemen.(end).
