NCCAL's Al-Yoha deeply pleased for Kuwaiti poet's award-winning

KUWAIT, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of Kuwait's National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) Ali Al-Yoha on Thursday said he was deeply pleased that the eminent Kuwaiti Dr. Khalifa Al-Wugayyan won the prestigious Al-Quds Literary Award from the Arab Writers' Union.
Such eminent honoring bolsters Kuwait's status on the map of Arab literature, he said in an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Al-Yoha says he remains an ardent advocate of Arab nationalism as a notion. "Although there are erroneous acts from some (Arab) parties, we should not lose faith in our abilities as a nation," he says, re-affirming that he still strongly believes in the Arabs' unity.
He expressed gratitude to the Kuwait Writers Association for nominating him for the Arab award, and expressed gratitude to the citizens who overwhelmed him with messages of congratulations.
The prominent Kuwaiti poet and writer has written about various Arab issues namely the Palestinian cause.
"Palestine in Kuwaiti Poems" is one of his books, recently published by the NNCAL, marking Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture 2016.
Al-Wugayyan, born in 1941, has a PhD in Arabic language from the Egyptian Ain Shams University (1980). He had also served in several senior cultural and educational posts. (end) ysa.hjb.rk
