KUWAIT, Spet 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Cancer Control Center (KCCC), affiliated to the Kuwait ministry of Health, has obtained a European certificate of quality for its newly opened nuclear medicine department.
The certificate is the first to be obtained in the Gulf and the Middle East region, head of the nuclear medicine department Dr. Faridah Al-Kandari told KUNA, on Sunday.
The health sector in Kuwait is keen on providing the best services that match international standards, she pointed out during a celebratory ceremony.
The department receives more than 7,000 patients annually and conducted numerous gallium scans and Positron emission tomography procedures.
KCCC was founded in 1968. It is primarily made up of the Hussain Makki Juma building for Specialized Surgery, the Sheikha Badriya Al Sabah Medical Oncology Building, and the Faisal Sultan Ibn Issa Diagnostic Imaging building. With over 600 highly qualified medical oncology staff, KCCC is a 200 bed hospital complex located in Shuwaikh.
KCCC treats over 2000 new cancer patients each year from Kuwait and the region. It is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and services. (end) ntq.nfm
