Turkey army bomb IS positions N. Syria

ISTANBUL, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- Turkey artillery bombarded so-called Islamic State (IS) positions in northern Syria in retaliation of an IS attack on the southern city of Kilis on Saturday, the army said.
The artillery attack destroyed two IS rocket launchers and killed terrorists next to them, the army said in a statement, but did not speciy their number.
The army said the Euphurates Shield operation was ongoing according to plan, and many IS terrorists have fled their positions against the advancement of the international coalition-backed Free Syrian Army.
The operation was launched on August 24 against the northern Syrian town of Jarabulus, aimed at clearing the town and border region from IS. (end) ta.bs
