Youth killed in fresh Kashmir violence as death toll tops 72

NEW DELHI, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- A teenage Kashmir boy was killed on Wednesday by gunfire of Indian security forces as fresh clashes erupted during protest demonstrations in the Valley.
Quoting eyewitnesses and local police officials, the Indo Asian News Agency said that 18-year old Danish Ahmed was killed as he sustained serious injuries during clashes between stone-pelting protesters and Indian security forces in Baramulla district, located in north Kashmir.
Moreover, according to a local police official, security forces opened fire after protesters refused to disperse, using tear smoke shells at Nadihal village in Baramulla, killing Ahmed as the death toll in the ongoing unrest has risen to 70 civilians and two police officers killed. Local residents in Kashmir erupted in massive protests following the killing of Burhan Wani at the hands of security forces.
Meanwhile, normalcy has gradually been restored in the Valley after Indian authorities lifted a curfew, but the latest incident brought back fresh restrictions in parts of Baramulla and the neighboring town of Sopore. (end) atk.nam
