US offers USD-3-mln reward for info on IS leader Khalimov

WASHINGTON, Aug 30 (KUNA) -- The US offered a reward up to USD three million for information leading to the location of Gulmurod Khalimov, a "key leader" of the so-called Islamic State (IS).
"He is now an IS member and recruiter. In May 2015, he announced in a 10-minute propaganda video that he fights for IS and has called publicly for violent acts against the United States, Russia, and Tajikistan," said the State Department in a statement Tuesday.
Khalimov was designated as a terrorist by the US in September 2015 and sanctioned by the UN in February 2016.
Since 1984, the US has rewarded over USD 125 million to people who have provided information to find terrorists, the State Department said. (end) ak.hb
