Syrian opposition, regime reach deal on Rif Damascus

AMMAN, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- The Syrian opposition and regular forces struck a deal on demilitarization of Darayya city in Rif Damascus, southwestern Syria, official media reported Thursday.
The deal aims at ridding the city of all arms and gunmen, and pave the way for the return of the residents and the country's institutions, Marwan Obaid, Darayya's Mayor told Syria Arab News Agency (SANA).
The deal also requrires transporting of Darayya's residents to temporary residential centers for local refugees that are widely spread around areas in Damascus and its outskirts, added Obaid.
It also requires the transferring of around 700 gunmen from the city to Idlib in northwestern Syria after handing over their arms and heavy artilleries to the Syrian army, he added. (end) ma
