US says there is 'no endpoint' to airstrikes against IS in Libya

WASHINGTON, Aug 1 (KUNA) -- The US new airstrikes against the so-called Islamic State (IS) in Libya on Monday does not "have an endpoint at this particular moment in time," military spokesperson Peter Cook told reporters.
"But we'll be working closely with the GNA (Libyan Government of National Accord) and we certainly hope that this is something that does not require a lengthy amount of time," Cook added.
The US will vet the location of its airstrike targets in a "collaborative process with the Libyan government," he said.
"We've engaged with the GNA in terms of assessing and determining the precise locations to hit. And yes, the United States military will be rigorously involved in every step of this process," Cook affirmed. (end) ak.bs
