ANKARA, July 24 (KUNA) -- Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus has announced that the Supreme Military Council will convene on Thursday, July 28th at the government headquarters to discuss the July 15th coup attempt.
In an interview with A Haber TV, Kurtulmus said the council would discuss measures to purge the military from people with links to the so-called "parallel state" organization, accused of orchestrating the failed coup.
He noted that the meeting would be held at government premises instead of the General Chief of Staff headquarters upon a decision from its chairman, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.
Kurtulmus emphasized that the government would reveal all details about the coup attempt and purge all state institutions from "parallel state" members.
He assured that the Turkish national economy is resilient and has not been impacted by the derailed attempt.
Meanwhile, Anadolu news agency reported that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has invited leaders of some of political parties to meet Monday at the presidential palace in Ankara to thank them for their stance against the coup attempt on July 15 and to receive their suggestions on next steps in dealing with the "parallel state" organization.
The Turkish president sent a letter to the head of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party Binali Yildirim, Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) head Devlet Bahceli.
"The Turkish people encumbered important responsibilities on all of our institutions by their decisive stance against the coup attempt and now expect our political parties to carry out the same responsibilities in this extremely critical period when we need to be in solidarity," reads the invitation letter.
