IPC becoming important actor in global charity work

KUWAIT, July 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has become an important actor in global charity work, remaining the country of giving and humanitarian initiatives, said Director General of Islam Presentation Committee (IPC) Abdulaziz Al-Duaij Wednesday.
The IPC's work aims to introduce non-Muslims with Islam according to a method of wisdom and good advice, Al-Duaij told KUNA.
The total number of IPC preachers has reached around 90, 30 of them are women, he said, adding that IPC needs to have more than 200 preachers to keep up with the increasing number of branches and to deliver the great message of Islam.
The number of people converting to Islam since the founding of the IPC in 1978 reached about 73,000 from different nationalities, and about 1,296 people reverted to Islam during the holy month of Ramadan this year, he added.
The IPC is working on providing social, educational and religious services for many new Muslims as well as for the children of the Muslim communities living in Kuwait, through the establishment of Friday sermons in different languages and organizing Iftar projects annually. IPC has offered more than 85,000 Iftar meals this year.
The committee has also organized about 58 Umrah trip for new Muslims, in addition to distributing about 50,000 gift bags with a million copies of preaching flyers in different languages and about 400,000 books.
The IPC has also distributed a million CD in 14 different languages in addition to teaching about 5,000 people that converted to Islam as well organizing 15 Quran memorization competitions. (end) amn.msa.ss
