US, UK, Italy, Germany, France, Spain welcome Libyan unity agreement

WASHINGTON, July 6 (KUNA) -- The unity agreement between Mustafa Sanalla, Chairman of the Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC), and Board member Nagi Al Maghrabi was welcomed by the governments of Spain, the UK, the US, France, Germany, and Italy for "strengthening" the Corporation, according to a joint statement.
The six countries urge all Libyans to "work together to restore Libya's oil production and exports, and stress the importance of Libyan resource wealth being used for the benefit of all Libyans," said the statement released by the State Department on Wednesday.
The statement reaffirmed the countries' readiness "to halt the illicit shipment of oil from Libya, and to sanction those who seek to exploit or divert Libya's oil or wealth." It added "Libya's national economic institutions, including the Central Bank of Libya, National Oil Corporation, and Libyan Investment Authority, must remain united under the sole stewardship of the GNA (Government of National Accord) and must use Libya's resources for the benefit of all Libyans."
