Egyptian FM, Iraqi PM discuss means of promoting cooperation

BAGHDAD, July 2 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi and visiting Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry discussed on Saturday means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, investment and training, said a statement by the Iraqi government.
The two sides touched upon bolstering cooperation in countering the so-called Islamic State, the statement added, noting that Shukry reiterated the depth of relations between the two countries.
According the statement, Shukri conveyed congratulations of President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi on the liberation of Fallujah after more than two years in the hands of Islamic State.
Meanwhile, Al-Abadi affirmed the importance of the historic relations, coordination and integration between the two countries and nations to maintain the region's stability.
Iraq is forging ahead with achieving more victories and liberating its territories, he said.
Shukry arrived in Iraq late Saturday on an official visit during which he met his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Al-Jaafari and Iraq's Parliamentary Speaker Salim Al-Jubouri.
During this meeting, Shukry discussed with the two officials a number of dossiers on issues of common concern. (Pickup previous) ahh.hm
