Coalition airstrikes target 150 IS vehicles -- White House

WASHINGTON, June 30 (KUNA) -- US-led coalition airstrikes have "destroyed" 150 Islamic State-owned vehicles in Iraq's Anbar province as they were leaving Fallujah, the White House said on Thursday.
The airstrikes struck the targets, which were travelling amid two large convoys, as Iraqi Security Forces were working to clear Fallujah, White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said in a briefing.
Separately, Earnest said reports of a keenness for closer cooperation between the Americans and the Russians have "been true from the very beginning." However, he indicated to an "internal contradiction" in Russia's strategy, which he suggested is "much more focused on propping up the Assad regime." "We have not seen the Russians demonstrate a commitment to using their military might against ISIL (Islamic State)," Earnest said.
"We would welcome a Russian commitment to working more closely with the coalition to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL. I think the 65 members of our counter-ISIL coalition would welcome that participation as well," he said. (pickup previous) sd.hm
