Spanish parliamentary elections end in low voting turnout

MADRID, June 26 (KUNA) -- Spain's parliamentary elections to elect 350 candidates for the parliament and 208 representatives for the senate ended Sunday in low turnout compared with last year's, the interior ministry announced.
The turnout amounted to 51.13 percent, less by seven percent than 2015 elections, and the lowest in the country's parliamentary history, the ministry said in its official website.
The elections are the second major in Spain that were held in the space of six months, in which 350 candidates and 208 representatives are aiming to secure seats in both houses.
The main parties are the conservative party (PP) - led by the outgoing Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, the center-left Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) - led by Pedro Sanchez, the left-wing Podemos (We Can) - led by Pablo Iglesias Turrion, Ciudadanos (The Citizens) - led by Albert Rivera, and the United Left (IU) - led by Alberto Garzon.
