Relations with UK won't be affected - Kerry

ROME, June 26 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State John Kerry Sunday denied any effect on neither UK's relations with the US or EU due to UK's withdrawal from the EU.
His remarks came after conclusion of his meeting with Italian counterpart Paolo Gentiloni, adding that the US will carry on with its unique relation with the UK where it can't be affected after the referendum.
"My visit to Europe came to show the significance of the relation with the EU," he noted.
Kerry also mentioned the huge financial market in Europe after the UK exit will still be strong with 440 million populations in that market, forming a strong economic entity. He noted the importance of working together to overcome any complications due to UK exit from the EU.
Meanwhile, Gentiloni agreed with Kerry that the EU is "an ally to the UK with a historic relation that can't be affected, and we need to move forward after the referendum results." Kerry will be heading tomorrow to Brussels and London to review the transitional phase after the exit. (end) mn.mys
