Kuwait Writers Association opens Ramadan book fair

KUWAIT, June 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Writers Association (KWA) opened its annual Ramadan book fair at its headquarters in Al-Adiliya Area on Sunday evening.
The fair, which lasts until June 23, aims to promote culture and knowledge among readers, the Association's Secretary General Talal Al-Romeidhi said in a statement to KUNA.
"The exhibits include the publications of the Kuwaiti publishing houses, KWA's products, and the books authored by the KWA's members in various literary fields, including short-stories and novels," he pointed out.
"Through the selection of the holy month of Ramadan as timing of this medium-size event, the Association seeks to enshrine the concept that this is the month of reading and knowledge and provide a platform for Kuwaiti authors to show display their works free of charge," Al-Romeidhi added.
He invited the book lovers to visit the fair, enjoy the invaluable books and attend the poetic seminar, to be held as a sideline in collaboration with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) as part of the celebration of Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture 2016. (end) mdm.gb
