India calls for united efforts against global terrorism

NEW DELHI, June, 4 (KUNA) -- Indian Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari on Saturday called for united global efforts to tackle terrorism amid increasing influence of extremist organizations. Ansari made the statement in a press conference on-board a special Air India Aircraft which took him back from a five-day official visit to Morocco and Tunisia, according to the Secretariat of the Vice President.
Ansari stressed the importance of forging global cooperation through bilateral and multilateral efforts to fight terrorism saying that the challenges that terrorism pose have become global in nature.
He underlined that the efforts to fight terror should be coordinated globally.
He termed the talks he had with the Moroccan and Tunisian leadership over bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual concern as fruitful and satisfying.
It is to be noted that India and Tunisia had signed two key agreements in the fields of information technology and tourism following talks between Ansari and Tunisian officials. In addition, both the sides asserted their determination to continue cooperation in economic and political fields.
Ansari also said that both the sides would further deepen cooperation in existing areas and would explore new avenues when Tunisian Foreign Minister would visit India later this year to participate in a meeting of the India-Tunisia Joint Commission.
He hailed the good understanding between India and Tunisia as exemplified in the stands Tunisians have been taking in the international organizations and fora supportive of Indian position. (end) atk.ibi
