Kuwait takes part in US Memorial day celebrations

By Youssef Al-Tattan WASHINGTON, May 31 (KUNA) -- Kuwait joined the US late Monday in celebrating the country's Memorial Day, which marks past wars, including the 1991 Kuwait liberation war.
Kuwait took part in the annual rally marking the Memorial Day in Washington D.C., an event covered live by TV channels across the nation, to express gratitude for the US for leading an international coalition in Operation "Desert Storm" that led to the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi occupation.
Kuwait Ambassador to the US Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in a statement to KUNA, expressed the embassy's keenness on participating in the event, which remembers victims of wars fought by the US, as well as veterans who fought in Desert Storm. (end) yt.hb
