KRCS affords educating 83 Syrian students in Lebanon

lBEBNINE, Lebanon, May 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) announced on Friday that it paid for educating about 83 Syrian refugee students in Bebnine in Akkar governorate, north of Lebanon.
The KRCS' initiative aims to support Syrian refugee students in Lebanon to help them continue their study, the society's Chairman Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer told KUNA in a statement on the sidelines of a celebration held at Al-Faris Intermediate School.
He stressed the importance of the education dossier of refugee students as it contributes to building human being, calling for concerted efforts to mitigate suffering of Syrian refugees "that is getting worse day after day".
He underlined the significance of backing Syrian refugee students to avoid dropout due to tough conditions most Syrian refugee families are suffering from in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Fares, head of Al-Fares school, lauded Kuwaiti institutions' interest in educating Syrian refugee children and the role of KRCS and charities in supporting refugees in all fields, especially education.
Kuwait's aid in Lebanon is a main factor seeking to alleviate suffering of refugees, he said.
Some parents of students, furthermore, expressed their gratitude to Kuwait, His Highness the Amir, government and people for their help and support to them since the outbreak of the crisis.
They emphasized that this humanitarian project will ensure education of their students.
Earlier today, KRCS and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) signed a USD 150,000 agreement to help injured Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
Al-Sayer and Deputy Head of the ICRC delegation in Lebanon Marco Succi signed the agreement. (Pick up previous) mah.hm
