RIYADH, May 6 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdullatif Al-Zayani said on Friday that the Syrian regime's airstrikes on camps of internally displaced persons (IDP) in Idlib governorate is a "heinous crime" condemned by international and humanitarian laws.
In a press statement, Al-Zayani added that GCC member states strongly denounced this "massacre" committed by the Syrian regime against IDP that killed about 50 civilians and wounded hundreds others.
He described the airstrikes as a war crime and urged the United Nations to investigate it and bring perpetrators to justice.
He said GCC states also asked the UN Security Council to implement all resolutions pertaining to Syria and press the Syrian regime to apply these resolutions as well and to respect international laws.
The GCC countries view that the Syrian regime has crossed all red lines in its crimes against innocents and civilians and these acts should be stopped immediately to save lives of Syrians, he said.
He added that the GCC states urge the international community to condemn the continued crimes committed by the regime against Syrian people. (end) yms.hm
