They spoke highly of the efforts of His Highness the Amir to settle the crisis in Yemen and host the peace talks, Kuwaiti MP Khalil Abdullah told KUNA tonight after attending the meeting on behalf of the National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim.
"The conferees thanked Al-Ghanim for the quantum leap the Arab parliamentary action got during his presidency of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU)," Abdullah said.
Regarding the topics on the agenda of the 23rd conference of the AIPU, he said the conference, due on Sunday, will discuss the recommendations of the just-ended the 19th session of the executive committee of the Union.
"The Palestine questions continues to be a central issue for the Arab and Muslim nations despite the attempts of certain powers to distract our attention from it," he said, noting that all top lawmakers of the Arab countries are unanimous on this question.
"The participants at today's meeting welcomed Al-Ghanim's initiative in support of the Palestinian people, which is a humanitarian issue in the first place," Abdullah pointed out.
