Sudanese lawmakers applaud Kuwait's support of their country

KHARTOUM, April 7 (KUNA) -- Speaker of Sudan's National Assembly Ibrahim Ahmed Omer praised in a meeting on Thursday with visiting Kuwaiti lawmakers Kuwait's support of his country's growth and development aspirations.
Moreover, he stressed the importance of furthering Sudanese-Kuwaiti diplomatic ties.
The Kuwaiti lawmakers are part of a delegation headed by Deputy Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Mubarak Al-Khurainij visiting Sudan upon an official invitation.
The delegation held talks with its Sudanese counterpart, with Mubarak Al-Khurainij heading the Kuwaiti delegation to the talks and Sudan's deputy speaker Aisha Salih heading the Sudanese delegation.
In statements during the talks, Al-Khurainij noted " Arab states are currently facing enormous challenges, the most salient of which are terrorism and Iranian intervention in the region, requiring all of us to unite against them." He demanded Iran to stop its interventions in such places as Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon and to show commitment to international norms of conduct. "We seek peace with Iran but we will not kowtow to that country's interventionist policies; at the same time we differentiate completely between our stances vis-a-vis the government of Iran and the people of that country." Further, he applauded Sudan's participation in the Decisive Storm operation and in the Islamic Coalition and in its position regarding the assault on the Saudi Arabian consulate in Iran.
He also called for a lasting solution of the Palestinian problem in accordance with UN resolutions.
On her part Sudan's deputy speaker Aisha Salih extoled the two nations' bilateral relations and hoped for more cooperation between them in all fields of interest.
Among issues dealt with in the talks today were removing obstacles facing Kuwaiti investments in Sudan, encouraging the two countries private sectors to interact more vigorously, and exchanging expertise and information on relevant concerns.
The Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation included MPs Hamdan Salem Al-Enezi, Majed Mousa Al-Mutairi, and Mohammad Al-Hediya. (end) hha.ajs
