BAGHDAD, April 3 (KUNA) -- Coalition military forces announced on Sunday that 29 members of the so-called Islamic State (IS) have been killed, including senior leaders, in two airstrikes conducted by Iraqi warplanes in Western Anbar province.
In a statement, the Coalition said that the first airstrike targeted an IS position in the town of Al-Qaim near the border with Syria, which killed 16 IS members. The second airstrike hit a training exercise of IS fighters in Rawah town north of Anbar, which killed 13 members.
Amongst those killed in the first airstrike are senior leaders Abu Sulaiman Al-Shaishani and Sheikh Jamal Al-Aisawi, a close associate of IS honcho Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the second airstrike killed Abu Anas Al-Rawi, a former general of the Iraqi national guard and Naseef Al-Rawi, who is said to have been in charge of suicide missions. (end) tma.nam
