RAMALLAH, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- Israeli troops on Friday shot dead a young Palestinian near a military checkpoint north of the West Bank town of Ramallah, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.
The ministry in a statement said Mahmoud Shaalan died due to gunshots. Israeli forces kept the body for some time before handing it over to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
Israeli Army said Shaalan was shot after attempting to stab the Israeli troops at the roadblock.
Such incidents have recently increased in the occupied territories. (end)
