MANAMA, Feb 25 (KUNA) -- The joint training of Kuwaiti and Bahraini national guards known as "Exercise 2" achieved its intended goals, Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti National Guard Lieutenant General Hashim Al-Rifai said Thursday.
This training achieved its goals in combating terrorism and underlined the importance of joint defense operations, including monitoring radiation, Al-Rifai told KUNA.
Al-Rifai added the drill included shooting training with live ammunition on various targets, rescuing hostages, coastline protection operations, response to terrorist threats, security and military drills, and reconnaissance operations.
The commander praised the level of readiness and performance to all units and personnel in Bahraini and Kuwaiti national guards, stressing the importance of similar joint training drills that help increase experience.
Last week, Kuwaiti and Bahraini national guards began "Exercise 2" to boost their readiness in fighting terrorist groups.
In a statement carried by the Bahraini News Agency, Bahraini National Guard Commander Lieutenant General Mohammad bin Isa Al-Khalifa underscored the significance of military drill in exchanging experience in fighting terrorism.
The first edition of the exercise was held in Kuwait late 2014. (end) mga.mb
