KUWAIT, Feb 10 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait on Wednesday called anew for establishing just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, and re-underscored necessity that Israel abides by all UN resolutions related to its protracted strife with the Palestinians.
Kuwait's re-affirmed official stance was expressed during a meeting between First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and the visiting UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolay Mladenov.
Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled and the UN official discussed during the meeting, held at the Foreign Ministry headquarters, various issues related to the stalled Middle East peace process and topics on the regional and international arenas.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled affirmed, during the meeting, necessity that Israel halt its escalating aggression on the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as its adherence to various UN resolutions on the Palestinian question.
He hoped the Middle East witnesses just and comprehensive peace; "such peace cannot be attained without establishing an independent Palestinian state with Holy Jerusalem as its capital." The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Khaled Suleiman Al-Jarallah, the Minister's Assistant for affairs of Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled's bureau Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Affairs Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani and other officials from the Ministry.
