NEW YORK, Feb 6 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is keen on social policy development in line with UN plans and programs which encouraged partnership between the private sector and civil society organizations, said a Kuwaiti diplomat here on Saturday.
In a statement to the 54th meeting for the UN social development committee, acting Charge D'affair at the Kuwaiti permanent delegation to the UN headquarters in New York Abdulaziz Al-Jarallah said that his country took several steps to protect and develop family values due to it being the basic structure of all functioning and successful societies.
The diplomat, who spoke during the meeting which is a follow-up to the World Summit for Social Development and the 24th special session for the General Assembly, said that Kuwait had achieved its goals in raising awareness on the importance of developing social policy, affirming that progression within this domain was an integral part of the state's sustainable development plan for 2030.
Ensuring the rights of the elderly, developing the capabilities of the youth, and safeguarding the rights of women and children are all aspects that the Kuwaiti government is relentlessly pursuing, said Al-Jarallah, adding that the most important aspect of social development was to ensure that each individual was able to reach his or her full potential.
