US drone strike kills 5 rebels in E. Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 26 (KUNA) -- At least five Taliban rebels were killed in a United States led drone strike in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, said official on Tuesday.
The governorآ’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani told media, "The strike took place late on Monday, killing five militants, including their commander Qari Hidayatullah." The drone strike targeted Taliban fighters in the Achin district of Nangarhar. The drone strike is a continuation of the ongoing security operation by Afghan and foreign forces against Taliban rebels in the province.
The strike came at a time when Taliban have paced up their attacks across Afghanistan taking over control of several districts following the withdrawal of NATO/ISAF forces from the country last year. (end) sbk.nfm
