KUNA chief says meeting of Gulf news agencies yields crucial suggestions

RIYADH, Jan 21 (KUNA) -- The 19th meeting of representatives of Gulf new agencies has yielded various suggestions that would prove crucial to the works of news agencies within the Gulf region, KUNA's Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah said on Thursday.
In comments to KUNA at the conclusion of the meeting held in the Saudi capital Riyadh, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij said that the assemblage further solidified cooperation amongst Gulf nations, as they were able to see eye to eye on a number of issues. The meeting was a prelude to a more prominent gathering of Gulf information ministers slated for March in Riyadh, he added.
The meeting was a productive one as it produced various suggestions that aim to harness media skills, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij noted.
One of these suggestions is plans to form an electronic portal that would serve as a reference to news and information pertaining to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states , Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij revealed. Moreover, plans to synchronize news information from within the Gulf region were also discussed, ones that would facilitate the sharing of data in an efficient manner, he added. The Director General Chairman of KUNA also thanked Chairman of Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah Bin Fahad Al-Hussein for hosting the meeting, one that proved fruitful to bolstering cooperation amongst GCC and Arab news agencies, he said.
