ISTANBUL, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- A Turkish soldier was killed during clashes between the military and Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Diyarbakir south east of the country, said the Turkish General Staff on Tuesday.
The soldier was seriously injured after gunmen opened fire on him during a military operation in the town of Sur in Diyarbakir.
The southeast area of the country is witnessing daily violence between PKK militants and Turkish security forces since the breakdown of the cease-fire agreement last July. (end) ta.kna.ss
